1.4i CiTi Golf Fuel Consumption

Postby Herschel on Wed Jun 20, 2012 7:32 pm

I've got my Golf for about 2 months now & noticed that it isn't as light as i was expecting it to be :(
On the long open road i manage about 640kms on a tank, but according to the specs of the car on the open road i should be getting 800kms from a tank :?

Now i don't smell any fuel from the car & there is no errors on the ecu.Could it just be the CO's that isn't right, cause i put on a freeflow 2 weeks ago & i noticed the exhaust hasn't started burning black yet & i went to Knysna on Monday,so the exhaust should've turn black from that trip.

Car specs
Fuel Capacity 49
Fuel Consumpsion - Highway 6.09
Fuel Consumpsion - Urban 10.65
Consumption Annual Average - 7.77

Any views?

Sounds about right, but could do better. What size exhaust did you fit?
And off the record, what's your urban fuel consumption?

It 50mm system from Powerflow.Tha had bad consumption with the std exhaust also on.

Urban driving is around 400-450kms.

Last service was done 7 kms ago.Car is due for it's 120k km service soon.Haven't compared performance with another Golf, but the car feels lazy on the long road. .
